The former home of Rudyard Kipling in East Sussex, UK. Now run by The National Trust and open to the public.

The house was designed by Decimus Burton, built between 1823 and 1826 and is in the Greek Revival style. Built on the site of Caesars Camp, it was the home of the former Prime Minister, Pitt the Younger.

This imposing mansion sits in 1400 acres of deer park, with views across Manchester & the Cheshire plains. The estate was owed by the Legh family for over six hundred years, originally built as a hunting lodge, it was transformed by Thomas Legh during the regency period heyday. The lavish interiors reflecting the great days in British estate life. This photograph was taken over the Reflection Lake, a classic shot for Lyme Park

Just before getting to the trailhead for Mt. Cardigan, I saw this beauty from the road.

Old farm in Glaumbær in northern Iceland.

Because of the scarcity of wood on the island, turf was used to build houses in Iceland. This old farm from the late 18th century is built in burstabær style, with its wooden ends or gaflar.

Am I missing the spring?

Dionysus also spelled Dionysos, also called Bacchus, a nature god of fruitfulness and vegetation, especially known as a god of wine and ecstasy.

Wine was a religious focus in the cult of Dionysus and was his earthly incarnation. Wine could ease suffering, bring joy, and inspire divine madness.

If he somehow came to Pyles, he would probably like to be hosted here, with the green vine deeply rooted next to the blue door of the old stone house.

Originally I thought this was a boat house because it looks like it is in the water. It has a chimney and windows though. It is constructed of wood and metal. The door seems to be too big for a house and too small for a boat. There are two buckets hanging on either side of the door. It couldn’t be a barn because you would have to take the animals through the water to get them inside. I’m stumped!

I have to find a picture of something that I can identify. There are just no write ups on these old buildings.

One of my favourite homes in Ladner. I'm fascinated by the three stacked floors, reminds me of a cake. The landscaping is impeccable, always. This is the first time I've seen it with snow, but I just realized that there were no Christmas lights despite the time of year, interesting, as this house would be enhanced by tasteful lighting, must drive by it one night, maybe they have those spotlight thingys that make trees look so dramatic.

Remember the film 'Waking Ned'? This apparently is where it was filmed - on the Isle of Man!

Chatsworth House is a lovely historic house set in the heart of the Peak District in Derbyshire. Set on the banks of the River Derwent, this is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and has been the home of the Cavendish family since the 1550s.

This was our starting point today for our walk, along the river, past the house, up to the top of the woods passing the Hunting Tower ( just visible at the top of the woods) and then past the lakes and a long trek downhill back to the river and carpark... just before the heavy rain set in! A lovely walk of 4.5 miles.

A hailstorm set in as we left the carpark but within 5 minutes the sun was shining again :)
