Joined yesterday, looked at photos in the pool. Saw birds on branches, parts of buildings, pillars and a bridge, a sunset near a tree over a wavy sea with a bird in a somewhat cloudy sky, so I thought, hey, this photo of a single-colored bird covering a minority part of a photo of a blurry single-colored, out-of-focus background would be perfect. But no, it got rejected without comment.
Then I read some of the comments in this thread. Haha, silly me, I thought this was a serious group. My bad.

Well, we could form better opinions about this photo that was rejected if you had posted it on here for discussion.
Don´t bother. This very serious person joined the group, didn´t get their first submission immediately accepted, typed a passive aggressive comment, and then left the group. :-)

A photo of mine was just rejected, I just went through and there are other similar photos but with way More is more going on in them then the less in my photo.
seems there is a bias for allowing photos is, so i am curious, what is the exact standard to get excepted, and before you answer make sure you actually go through the photos which have been excepted.

There are quite a few different structures and patterns in the sea. I looked at your photo stream and saw one called "November Sky" which I find more minimal than this one above.
I'm not an admin though, it's just my personal opinion.

Honestly I think the trickiest part of this group is that looking at the pool doesn't help in determining what is likely to be accepted. On any given day the pool ranges from very simple, even boring photos to super busy, complex photos.
And it depends on the mod's mood. I had photos rejected, submitted them months later and then they were accepted.
Let's take a closer look at this photo. At the bottom right, there is tiny stripe of land. Above that and at the left bottom, there is a calm area of water broken by some waves and varying in color by the reflection of the sunlight. Above that is a rougher sea, rich in texture. Now, come, the yellow and orange of a sunset., a dark cloud, the blue sky with different intensities of blue and the moon. Isn't this very rich?
BTW: I like the composition, in the vertical structure adhering to the rule of thirds.
BTW 2: "seems there is a bias for allowing photos is, so i am curious, what is the exact standard to get excepted, and before you answer make sure you actually go through the photos which have been excepted." - I ignore that part, this can be read in one way only. I hope, you want to be friendly as well.

BTW: My interpretation of minimal has slightly changed over the years while moderating this group. Let's call it learning on my side.
I do think the group is less about "less is more" and more about what the admin likes because I have posted two very minimal photos that have been rejected then looked at some of these sky photos with a lot going on in the shot which in my opinion do not belong in less is more group.

There is no "The Admin". It's 2 moderators that manage the queue, and each moderator has their own taste, mood, time, etc. So yes, basically the image pool is what either mod liked at the time he looked at the queue.
Feel free to repost your images, maybe the mods moods will be more favorable.
